Purpose & Objectives of the D.Min. Program

The purpose of the Doctor of Ministry program is to enable students to increase their theological and ministerial skills as spiritual Christian leaders.

At Central Seminary, we assume that the men coming into our D.Min. program are pastors or church planting missionaries. We do accept men who are involved in other ministries, but the program is tailored especially to be useful to pastors.

The objectives are: each student who completes the D.Min. program at Central Seminary will be able to:

  • identify his strengths and weaknesses as a spiritual leader, giving emphasis to servant leadership.
  • evaluate his approach to leadership, outreach, preaching, or counseling.
  • engage in critical interaction with the latest theories, tools, methods, and resources pertaining to spiritual and servant leadership within the church.
  • express sharpened exegetical skills with the biblical text.
  • demonstrate his competence in biblical and systematic theology through exposure to contemporary theological issues.
  • demonstrate a development of his ministry skill.
