Purpose & Objectives of the Ph.D. Program

The purpose of the Doctor of Philosophy program is to train men to serve as scholars, authors, and educators who will equip spiritual leaders of New Testament churches.

The Doctor of Philosophy program is for students who have already completed a basic seminary education. It prepares the student for a career of Christian scholarship.

The objectives are: each student who completes the Ph.D. program at Central Seminary will be able to:

  • demonstrate sufficient mastery of the field.
  • demonstrate pedagogical skill at the baccalaureate, graduate, and postgraduate levels.
  • demonstrate competent research and writing skills.
  • make a contribution to the society of the student's discipline.
