Transfer Policies

Policies affecting all programs:

  • Credits must be earned at a recognized graduate institution.
  • The course must be comparable to one listed in Central Seminary's catalog.
  • Grades are not calculated into the cumulative GPA.
  • Credits must have been earned within the last ten years.

Master of Arts in Theology (M.A.T.)

  • The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is eight (8).
  • Credits may be transferred anytime during the student’s program.
  • The student must earn a grade of C or better.
  • No credits from another completed masters degree may be transferred into the M.A.T. degree.
  • ST 602, Ecclesiology and Eschatology, must be taken at Central Seminary.

Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

  • The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is sixty-four (64).
  • Credits may not be transferred after the student has earned 64 credits.
  • The student must earn a grade of C or better.
  • The following classes may not be transferred:
    • OT 601/OT 701 – Hebrew Syntax, Reading, and Exegesis
    • NT 601/NT 602 – Greek Exegesis
    • ST 602 – Ecclesiology and Eschatology

Master of Theology (Th.M.)

  • The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is six (6).
  • Credits must be transferred upon entrance to the program.
  • The student must earn a grade of B- or better.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

  • The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is six (6), unless the student has completed a Th.M. degree. In that case, up to 24 credits may be transferred.
  • Credits must be transferred upon entrance to the program.
  • The student must earn a grade of B or better.

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

  • The maximum number of credits that may be transferred is eight (8).
  • Credits must be transferred upon entrance to the program.
  • The student must earn a grade of B or better.
